Communications Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network Established

The Communications Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Department is responsible for the allocation of Network channels and spectrum, the licensing of transmitting equipment, and the operation of the Network's public broadcasting service.

With its establishment complete, the Department today launches its official website at communications.gov.vin. The site will carry press releases, official statements, the register of spectrum allocations, and guidance for members, broadcasters and equipment operators.

The Department's first task is to publish the allocation classes under which Network channels are assigned and to confirm the schedule of official announcements carried by the public broadcasting service. Further announcements regarding the Department's offices, procedures and points of contact will be published in the Newsroom as they become available.
